This is the best Eluvium we have made, and while these three mountain vineyards work together to bring unique character, Eluvium still sits firmly in that rare position of depth and concentration on equal footing with purity of aromatics, poise and restraint. Petit Verdot continues to occupy around 20% of the blend, contributing structure, depth, and power. 2019 was a glorious vintage, similar to 2017, but with the benefit of recent memory of strategies for quality in a hot and dry season. While this will certainly be one of the longest-lived Eluviums, it also has ripe tannins that, while being plentiful and persistent, allow for an early (well aerated) pop of the cork that is still exciting and pleasurable. This is definitely a wine to fit into my triple purchase strategy: one to open now, one in five years, and one for the far future based on how the middle one is tasting
